9-Day Mighty 5 Tour Itinerary

The primary objective of the trip will be to experience the spectacular scenery of the Mighty Five National Parks of Southern Utah.  There will be significant opportunities for enjoyable walks and hikes of some amazing areas. Also included in this tour is the Grand Canyon National Park with a visit and over-night stay at the Grand Canyon South Rim.

Day 1: Transfer from Las Vegas, NV to Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim

There will be an exciting tour of the Grand Canyon Skywalk with lunch included along the four-hour transfer to your overnight accommodations near Grand Canyon National Park.

Day 2: Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim

This day will be devoted to one of the seven wonders of the world. Included sites are the Grand Canyon south rim, Mather Point, Yavapai Point, Grand Canyon Village, Bright Angel hiking & mule trail, Historic Grand Canyon Buildings and Visitor Centers.

You’ll be able to experience the Grand Canyon from a birds-eye perspective and enjoy picturesque views on a morning eco helicopter tour by Papillon Tours (the helicopter ride can be upgraded to a private tour for an extra $100 per person).

Weather-permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the dramatic interplay of lights and shadows during a Grand Canyon sunset before enjoying dinner and your accommodations.

Day 3: Monument Valley

After a leisurely morning in Page, you’ll transfer to and tour Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, one of the most well recognized outdoor movie “studios” in the southwest. The main sites we’ll visit is West Mitten Butte and Goulding’s Trading Post.

Monument Valley is a very popular tourist attraction. Hollywood made this sacred land popular in various movies representing the iconic American West. You can expect a high desert climate when exploring the beauty of the mesas, buttes and the overall desert environment.

Day 4: Rainbow Bridge, Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend

You’ll travel through the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on your way to Rainbow Bridge National Monument.

Lake Powell encloses one of nature’s most inspirational settings, is stunning. Behind the Glen Canyon Dam, the waters of the Colorado River and its tributaries are backed up into the ravines and gorges of Glen Canyon, forming Lake Powell

Located at Lake Powell is also Antelope Canyon, which is always a highlight. Because Antelope Canyon is not a state park, it is often overlooked by many travelers. Yet, this slot canyon is one of the most photographed in the American Southwest and definitely worth a visit!

The last stop of the day with be Horseshoe Bend, the true “gooseneck” of the Colorado River. This area providers photographers with impeccable sceneries of rock formations. The hike to Horseshoe Bend is approximately 30-minutes and is on primarily sandy terrain. It can be classified as modest due to a couple ups and downs.

Day 5: Zion National Park

We’ll continue on to Zion National Park on day five. There will be many photo opportunities on the short drive to and through Zion National Park. This national park is one of the most visited destinations and particularly known for the dramatic canyons and towering rock formations. Other natural highlights include waterfalls, shaded pools, and overhanging cliffs.

Day 6: A Canyon of Towers – Bryce Canyon National Park

This will be an exciting day for all hike enthusiasts. Bryce Canyon is another well-know national park in Utah’s stunning Southwest. It’s sometimes referred to as the forest of stones due to its many tall and delicate rock pinnacles, also called Hoodoos. One significant hike is planned within the Hoodoos and canyons of Bryce Canyon National Park. You’ll have numerous photo opportunities!

  • Yovimpa Point

Day 7: A Canyon Kaleidoscope – Capitol Reef National Park

The drive from Moab to Bryce Canyon National Park takes us on some of the most spectacular scenic roads in North America. Like all other destinations, there are some outstanding photo opportunities in and around Capitol Reef National Park. Included sites are Waterpocket District and Cathedral Valley.

Day 8: Island in the Sky – Canyonlands National Park

You’ll experience 337,598 acres of colorful Canyonlands National Park, mesas, buttes, fins, arches, and spires in the heart of southeast Utah’s high desert. Water and gravity have been the prime architects of this land, sculpting layers of rock into the rugged landscape you see today.

This national park is characterized by a diverse terrain. You’ll be amazed by towering arches, rock formations, and canyons. Also, fascinating Native American rock art can be viewed that are believed to date back to AD 500.

This day is filled with activities that include hiking and visiting lookouts that boast with photo opportunities. Island in the Sky, Roaside Ruin and Cave Springs (two ladders need to be climbed) are included time permitting.

Day 9: Walk as Ants in Arches National Park

We explore many of the natural features in Arches National Park, about 6 kilometers north from Moab. We walk along a trail to view Landscape Arch, the world’s second largest freestanding arch.  We’ll hike to and under several other arches as well.

Mid-afternoon you’ll head toward Salt Lake City, Utah, for your flight home the next day.
